Birmingham take on relegation-threatened Hull in the Championship on Saturday at 3pm, in a game which will have a massive effect on the Tigers’ survival hopes.
Hull sit third from bottom with 41 points, the same as Middlesbrough and only three more than second from bottom Barnsley.
But, Birmingham are by no means home and dry as far as their league status is concerned as they sit in 16th place with just six more points than Hull with four games to go.
Hull have won the last two meetings between the sides pretty convincingly, with a 2-0 win at the end of last season and a 3-0 victory in the sides first meeting of the current campaign.
The Birmingham trio which missed the game against West Brom, Kristian Pedersen, Ivan Sunjic and Marc Roberts are touch and go for the upcoming clash.
Previous Hull absentees Reece Burke and Leonardo Da Silva Lopes have returned to training and will be in contention to start for the Tigers.
Both sides have been pretty unimpressive this season. Things weren’t looking great for Birmingham before the lockdown, but they managed to hold a very good West Brom side to a 0-0 draw in their first game back so that result could be something to build on coming into this match.
After experiencing a devastating 1-0 defeat to Charlton, the Tigers wont exactly be in high spirits coming into this clash and another defeat could all but spell the end for Hull’s championship campaign.
I predict a 2-1 win for Birmingham. Although we can’t take much from one game, the Blues have looked the better team since league play began again.
Hull’s loss to Charlton looked less than promising and unless they are able to dig deep and produce something they haven’t all season, I can’t see them getting a result from this game.
