Wigan take on relegation threatened Hull in the Championship at 6pm on Tuesday in a do or die game.
Wigan sit in 15th on 54 points, Hull sit nine points behind them in 22nd place, a loss for both teams would have serious consequences on their survival hopes.
Wigan have been in very good form since the return of football, not losing five out of their last six games to put themselves in a favourable position to survive the drop. Hull have been the opposite; they haven’t won a game since the return of the Championship. The teams shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw when they met earlier this season.
For Wigan, defender Danny Fox will not be available after being red carded in their last game. Joe Garner will also not be available as he will be serving a suspension after being sent off in their 3-0 loss to Brentford. Leon Balogun will require a late fitness test as he looks to return from a groin injury.
Herbie Kane will not be available for Hull as he’s still recovering from a hamstring injury.
Going into this game I see two teams at the bottom end of the table with contrasting form. Wigan and Paul Cook have done an amazing job to create the run of form for themselves that they have had, and momentum is clearly on the side of the Lactics heading into this important game. Hull have been abysmal this season, and since the restart it has gone from bad to worse for Grant McCann’s men.
No wins since football returned means that the more the Tigers lose, the harder it is to turn things around. With how poor Hull have been lately compared to Wigan it would be foolish to suggest any other outcome than a Wigan win.
Score Prediction: Wigan 3-1 Hull
