Torrid Terriers To Suffer Birmingham Blues

Mid-table Birmingham take on relegation-threatened Huddersfield in the Championship on Wednesday at 6pm.

Birmingham come off the back of a thrilling 3-3 draw with Hull and sit 16th in the table on 49 points, whilst Huddersfield lost 3-1 to Nottingham Forest in their last game and currently sit third from bottom on 42 points.

The first fixture between these two sides this season ended in a 1-1 draw, which has been the theme whenever the two teams have met in the past, as out of their last eight meetings five of them have ended in draws.

Huddersfield town will be without Juninho Bacuna who will be sitting out the first game of a three-match ban. Steve Mounie, who missed the Terriers last game, is currently back in training according to boss Danny Cowley.

Jake Clarke-Salter could be a doubt for Birmingham, who was taken off in the late stages of their last game. Ivan Sunjic and Marc Roberts will not be ready to return from their respective injuries.

Prediction

Things aren’t looking good for Huddersfield’s survival hopes after their 3-1 loss to Forest, but a 3-1 loss to a top side in the division wouldn’t normally be a cause for concern if they weren’t in such desperate need of points. They managed to get on the scoresheet in that game via a penalty so when they face a Birmingham side who let in three goals against relegation battlers Hull, they could be able to capitalise.

Birmingham don’t look particularly impressive and with their Championship status looking secure the game won’t hold the same meaning to them.

There will be goals in this game as both defences aren’t particularly great, so it will be down to who can take their opportunities upfront.
